Mile marker delivery & public mangrove access

Use this guide to plan delivery handoffs or bring-your-own kayak trips to public mangrove edges. Mile markers (MM) on the Overseas Highway are posted along US-1; numbers decrease as you drive toward Key West. Always confirm parking rules, fees, and hours on site.

How delivery lines up with MM

At checkout, delivery options and any meeting instructions appear when they apply to your rental. In general, be ready to describe which MM you are near (or your lodging address) so we can coordinate a safe handoff off the travel lane. If a spot below lists “delivery,” it means our operation may meet there when offered—not every location is available every day.

Legend

• Public access — Launch or shoreline the public may use (verify signage and local rules).
• BYO kayak — Reasonable to paddle in with your own craft if access allows.
• Delivery — Possible rental drop-off/pickup when our delivery add-on applies and we confirm the location.
• Mangrove edge — Where red/black mangrove habitat is reachable from that access (conditions vary with tide and weather).

Spots (sorted north to south, high MM → low MM)

• Upper Keys mangrove access — MM 106–91

  Access: Key Largo area public parks and boat ramps. Parking: Varies by site (check for state park fees or local rules). Mangrove edge: Excellent access through protected sounds and creeks. BYO kayak: Yes. Delivery: When offered / coordinate upon booking.

• Islamorada area — MM 90–64

  Access: Local fill-ins, park flats, and marina launches. Parking: Strictly enforced; check local signage for right-of-way restrictions. Mangrove edge: Great channels and backcountry flats. BYO kayak: Yes. Delivery: When offered / coordinate upon booking.

• Marathon & Middle Keys — MM 63–40

  Access: Public ramps, city parks, and designated beach access points. Parking: Pay-by-app, day rates, or designated park slots; watch for tow-away zones. Mangrove edge: Sheltered shorelines reachable from local channels and state park boundaries. BYO kayak: Yes by site. Delivery: When our delivery add-on applies and we confirm the meet point.

• Lower Keys — MM 39–5

  Access: National Wildlife Refuge boundaries, state park flats, and bridge causes. Parking: Park limits apply; no overnight parking on highway shoulders. Mangrove edge: Expansive backcountry trails and shallow flats. BYO kayak: Yes. Delivery: When offered / coordinate upon booking.

• Key West area — MM 4–0

  Access: City beaches, public boat ramps, and community parks. Parking: Metered spaces or residential permitting required. Mangrove edge: Accessible via localized tidal streams and salt ponds. BYO kayak: Yes. Delivery: When offered / coordinate upon booking.

Shipwreck & reef (optional)

Snorkel or paddle-to sites depend on conditions and regulations. We do not list specific reef coordinates here—use your confirmation or guided trip for meeting points. Guided tours are the best fit when you want a set route and safety briefing.
